sittin' on the porch sippin' ice-cold cherry. . .coke.

She likes going to the carnival by herself, instead of with friends. She doesn't really enjoy the rides or the cheap stuffed animals she can usually win if the games involve something easy like darts. But she's drawn to the neon (occasionally but not always Neon) lights, and the noise, and people. Just being around lots and lots of people. It's been brought to her attention that she might do well in Vegas, and it's something she's considered more than once.

When the fireworks go off she thinks in chemicals, not colours. An explosive crack, then sodium- and calcium-coloured sparks and she always wonders where those little bits of ashes go after they're done shimmering.

i've done a little steppin out there on a limb. . .

She likes the way dusk smells. If dawn is soaked and awkward like a newborn, then dusk is that baby's cool, metropolitan aunt.

Right now is soft hands grabbing the hem of her shirt and pleasantly hot groin pressed against hers. There's slight thrusting and two baby step-steps into her personal space, so that her back is resting tight against the - okay, ow, shelf - flat of the wall. Right now is lips feather-soft against her jaw, neck and bruisingly hard against her mouth.

"Later, babe" - smile - "I should get back to work."

i've heard of affairs that are strictly platonic, but. . .

You're standing at the counter doing - fuck, something, whatever - and the schoolgirlish blush on the centres of your cheeks goes so deep it's purple when she says "excuse me."

. . .no, but is your sister home?

Sometimes, they make dinner together.

You make weird, Asian salad dressing that she never eats but you can't get enough of. She smiles and dips her fingers into the rice pot, bringing up tiny, sticky grains that she eats by sticking her fingers into her mouth so that they come out clean and slippery.

Her tiny shoulders look childish and ridiculous when she wears a tank top, but the roundness of your face does the same thing, so it evens out in the end.
